Panasonic VIERA TC-P50GT25 50-inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, Black 



My first thought in writing this review 
- buy this TV while the promotions from Panasonic are still available! Do not hesitate if you are in the market for a 50-inch TV 
- this is one of the very best TV's available at the best possible price from the best retailer in the market. 

Second thought 
- this is my third attempt to find the right TV with Amazon in the past two months, and I am very grateful for Amazon's 'Gold Glove' level of customer service. I first purchased a Samsung PN50C550 plasma 
- great image quality, but the Samsung had significant image retention issues and a horizontal image banding effect that they would not warranty after two service visits. Returned this TV for the Toshiba 55 LED 240hz 3D. One word 
- flashlighting. Significant bright spots on the screen in any moderately dark picture. Also, after becoming accustomed to plasma, the LED was a huge step down in picture quality in every way describable 
- I won't even try to elaborate. Never realized the importance of off angle viewing that you get with a plasma!! Amazon picked both TV's up, re-packaged and carted them away without any trouble.
Now about the Panasonic GT25 
- picture quality is simply amazing. Rich, accurate colors. Incredible clarity. Black levels and contrast are everything that Panasonic claims. Minimal issues with image retention 
- virtually none, and this was an issue with the Samsung from day one. 3D is great - picture is clear and the images pop off of the screen. I find that the 3D works well even at greater distances and angles than are considered optimal. Will 3D improve over time? Of course, but the GT25's 3D viewing is a great feature that the whole family really enjoys now (at only $120 more than the G25).

One more thought about this whole TV buying escapade 
- I spent plenty of time in retail stores assessing picture quality between brands. This is not a good assessment of picture quality!!! Realized that different retail chains must be enticed to promote different brands/TV's, as I found that they run the pictures to some brands with HDMI cables and some with standard cables 
- that's going to mean a HUGE difference in picture quality when assessing the pictures side by side.

Buy the GT25 
- you will be very happy (thrilled is a better word) with this TV!

G25 label makes the difference

Panasonic VIERA TC-P42G25 1080p Plasma HDTV (42 inches)

I already have a Panasonic 58" since 2006, and it is in my opinion one of the best TVs on the market. I wanted to replace -in the second smaller family area upstairs - a TV replacing our old 32". 

I bought first a Samsung 46" LCD (not LED) and the screen seemed too big for the area. Maybe this was a subjective impression, because the view from sides was full of spots tainting the picture. 

They disappeared only if one sits right in front of the TV. I returned the TV next day.

I looked at all Panasonic plasma. The large electronics store and Costco sell cheaper 720p versions. Even the model S2, one step below G25, although it is a 1080p, it does not have the "infinite black" feature. 

I located the Panasonic G25 42" in another electronic store. The difference between S2 and G25 was day and night for me. The sound is more than good for me. 

One feature G25 has and S2 doesn't is the swivel from the base. Little detail, but significant in smaller rooms.

The price on Amazon was good. The reputation of Amazon is re-assuring even when buying a large item like a TV. 

However the G25 is sold by an Amazon third party. In the remote possibility that I need to return the item, I know from experience, Amazon policy is to redirect the buyer to the seller, and only if the authorized seller does not solve the problem, the Amazon will return the money. 

The process works, but it may take months.

This is the reason I purchased the Panasonic G25 locally. I highly recommend to anyone considering a TV.

Although I actually have been operating within the AV business for several years I actually have been holding back - seen plenty of feature hype and hoopla elapse however this can be the primary flat screen plasma I liked with a value that was cheap. 


For one or two of years currently I actually have been yearning for an HDTV with wide viewing angels - worked well in dark or well lit area while not an excessive amount of reflection - wealthy correct color copy - Works well with games or sports motion - works well with over the air/cable SD signals or SD DVD play back - simple use - straightforward break in - Minimal probability of image retention - Multiple input/outputs - cheap value. 


We have had our 42G25 currently for many weeks and are very happy with our alternative - did need to get the part cables for our Wii that improved the image quality fairly well for an SD video game. we have a tendency to additionally purchased a Panasonic Bluray player with the TV it works nicely with SD or Bluray playback - The TV's THX certified image setting is extremely pleasing and color correct for movies - i exploit the Custom setting for over the air and cable TV watching with a couple of minor adjustment tweaks I got wonderful results. each the TV and player have web skills - I actually have used utube to this point works fine. additionally i used to be simply able to updated the firmware for each TV and player. Bought a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter to use my a pair of yr. previous MacBook pc works fine @ 1920x1080p resolution streaming Hulu etc. there's an RGB port on the TV however solely lower resolutions work - since RGB is proscribed anyway i'd use the HDMI port if your pc is 1080p capable. The sound may be a very little on the tinny facet on behalf of me however my wife does not appear to mind it personally I typically use the AV amplifier when watching TV or Movies. I do expect there'll eventually be some minor rise in black levels however this can be true of most plasma sets anyway as a result of phospher life and inbuilt bios changes - yawn - yawn etc. etc. -- however were talking thousands of hours here and years of viewing time. nonetheless at a similar time if there are any changes I expect them to be terribly minor not therefore noticeable by the naked eye when viewing TV or Movie content.
